Friendship Senior Center

HEA Program benefits seniors in Harrisburg, Pa.

Over 20 senior members of the Friendship Senior Center in Harrisburg, Pa., have participated in the HEA program over past 2 years. This seniors group has and continues to benefit from the HEA, in several areas including improved healthy living, sharing plant-based cooking techniques and family/community outreach involvement. The participating seniors’ pre- and post- health benefit measurements were substantial, and were initially monitored at the Senior Center thru the participation of Pinnacle Health.

Today this Harrisburg seniors group has grown and have influenced their family members and neighbors to consider the benefits of healthy eating and the improved quality of life. As part of the seniors out-reach and to help sustain the program, they participate in monthly and quarterly luncheons, to share their continued experiences and enjoyment with the program. These luncheons also allow the group to listen and watch several of the DVD’s like “Forks over Knives”, “Fast Foods the Basics” and “Engine 2 Kitchen Rescue” to reinforce the benefits of the program. The following are several photos of the Senior Center HEA activities.
